Helen Deakin

Hello, I am Helen. I offer a warm, empathic and supportive counselling space where you can slow down and truly be heard. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship, because it is often within a safe, trusting relationship that real understanding, growth and change can begin to take place.

Counselling isn’t about being fixed, it's about having someone walk alongside you during difficult times. Someone who will witness your struggles and sit with you in what might feel a confusing, painful or overwhelming time.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, or simply need space to reflect. Counselling can offer a place where your voice matters, your feelings make sense and you don’t have to face things alone.

Where I work

I work at Unit 12 and online. I can be flexible around days and time.

counselling@unit12’s address can be found on the map at bottom of the page.

Fees

I offer an initial 20-minute consultation online for £20 to discuss your counselling goals, get to know each other and see if we are a good fit.

It is also to get a sense of how I work and to see whether you feel comfortable talking with me. Finding the right therapist is important, and there is no obligation to continue after this session.

If we decide to work together, ongoing sessions are 50 mins and charged at £70.

How I work

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I have been trained in a range of approaches. This allows me to draw from different ways of understanding the human experience, while always tailoring my work to you as an individual.

My practice is rooted in person-centred approach. This means I believe you are the expert on your own life. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can explore what it is like to be you. Together we can make sense of your experiences, emotions and patterns at your own pace.

It takes courage to reach out and start this journey, I have been there and it has been transformative. I hope it can be for you too.
