Andy Wareham

Are you feeling anxious, stuck, or weighed down by the past? Perhaps you’ve been coping alone for a long time and are now ready to make sense of what’s happening and move towards change. Taking the step to reach out for counselling can feel daunting - but it’s also an act of self-care and courage.

I’m Andy Wareham, a Humanistic and TA-trained counsellor, offering counselling in Winchester, Eastleigh, and online. I work with adults and young adults facing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, loss, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem. I also offer neuro-affirming support for clients who are autistic, ADHD, or exploring their identity.

Where I work

Face to face sessions are available in a comfortable room on the first floor of counselling@unit12 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday (morning only), Thursday and Friday  from 8am - 7pm.

 My approach

My approach is warm, relational, and collaborative. I believe that therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and accepted just as you are. Together, we’ll explore what’s troubling you - at a pace that feels comfortable - and work towards greater clarity, resilience, and self-acceptance.

The energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.
— Connection - Brené Brown

As a Humanistic counsellor, I see you as the expert in your own life. Drawing on Transactional Analysis (TA), I can also help you understand patterns in how you relate to yourself and others, and how past experiences might still be shaping your present. I draw upon a range of other theories, tools and strategies to suit individuals’ needs.

Counselling with me is a space to:

●       Feel heard and validated without judgement

●       Understand the roots of your struggles

●       Develop kinder, more compassionate self-awareness

●       Discover new choices and ways forward

●       Reconnect with your values, purpose, and confidence

It’s completely normal to feel nervous about starting therapy. Our first step is a free, 30-minute phone conversation - a relaxed chat to see whether working together feels right for you. There’s no commitment; just a chance to ask questions and get a sense of what therapy might look like.

If we decide to work together, we’ll agree a pace and focus that suits your needs. Some clients come for short-term counselling around a specific issue; others choose open-ended work for deeper exploration and lasting change.

If you’re ready to explore what’s happening for you, or simply curious about whether counselling might help, I’d love to hear from you.
